Week 2 - Body Type: Which MORPH are you.

There are 3 body types: MESOmorph, ENDOmorph and ECTOmorph

You can be all in one or a combo of 2!


Which one are you...


Mesomorph


Average Height

Naturally athletic physique

Easy to gain and lose weight

Strong foundation

Ratio of short to slow twitch muscle fibers (endurance and power)


The mesomorph body type responds wonderfully to weight training. Gains are usually seen very quickly, especially for beginners. The downside to mesomorphs is they can gain fat if their caloric intake is too high.


Usually a combination of power and resistance training and high/low intensity cardio works best for mesomorphs.


Endomorph


Shorter Height Solid, stocky "round" and can be very powerful

Higher range of fast-twitch muscle fibers (power)

Lower range of slow-twitch muscle fibers (endurance)

Gain fat and muscle very easily. Thick, strong bones

Slow metabolism

Muscles not so well defined

When it comes to training endomorphs find it very easy to gain weight. To keep fat gain to a minimum and increase lean mass, endomorphs must always train cardio and endurance resistance exercises. In the athletic world, these powerful, heavier and strong individuals can be seen in linebackers, etc.


Ectomorph


An ectomorph is a typical skinny guy. Ecto’s have a light build with small joints and lean muscle. Usually ectomorph’s have long thin limbs with stringy muscles. Shoulders tend to be shorter width.


Taller frame

lengthy bone structure

Classic “hard-gainer”

Flatter chest

Lean muscle mass

Finds it hard to gain weight and gain muscle

Fast metabolism


Ectomorphs find it very hard to gain weight. Ecto’s need a higher and correct amount of calories/macro's in order to gain muscle mass / weight. Workouts should be short and intense focusing on big muscle groups to gain typical muscle mass. In the athletic world, Lance Armstrong.
